A STUDY ON SOIL RESOURCES AND RATIONAL USE OF SMALL DRAINAGE IN DIANCHI LAKE DRAINAGE AREA

The Dianchi Lake plays an important role in the industrial and agricultural production of Kunming Metropolitan and the everyday life of the people. This paper selects a typical small drainage, Baozidong Reservoir, as a study area, which shares similar geomorphologic and hydrologic structures with Dianchi Lake, and analyzes the classification, characteristics, formation and evolution of its soil resources. It suggests that the utilization of the soil resources of this area should focus on the extensive planting of cash trees and those of ecological protection, all of which should be in harmony with the local conditions, and be well planned. It also suggests that fertilizer be used in a scientific way, rotational cropping and intercropping technology be adopted in order to well conserve the water and soil and reduce the pollutants of the lake.
