Analysis of Variation and Correlation of 8 Pumpkin Characters

Forty-six pumpkin cultivars were chosen to investigate the variation of the pumpkin cultivars’ polysaccharide content, soluble solid content, single fruit weight, single fruit seeds, weight of hundred seeds, first fruit node, fruit shape index, yield and correlation of differ characters. The results indicated that the variation coefficients are as following: fruit shape index was 0.432, polysaccharide content 0.414, yield 0.413, single fruit weight 0.335, single fruit seeds 0.313, weight of hundred seeds 0.240, soluble solid content 0.196, first fruit node 0.146 respectively. The correlation coefficients of polysaccharide content and soluble solid content, first fruit node are very significant or significant level. The correlation coefficients are 0.504 4 and 0.340 5 respectively. The correlation coefficient of soluble solid content and first fruit node is significant level. The correlation coefficients is 0.372 0. The correlation coefficient of yield and single fruit weight is very significant level. The correlation coefficients is 0.667 7. Moreover, soluble solid and yield, single fruit weight have significant negative correlations.
