Application of SSR Marker in Horticultural Plants Breeding

SSR is a new type of DNA molecular marker which is based on PCR, and it has many advantages, such as abundance, high polymorphism, reproducibility, codominance, and so on. The basic principles and characteristics of SSR, and its application in horticultural plant breeding, such as genetic relationships, genetic polymorphism, cultivars identification, construction of genetic map, germplasm resources protection and utilization, gene mapping and marker assistant selection of SSR marker were summarized. And its application prospect is discussed.
