Effects of LED Lights on Yield of Melon and Fruit Vegetables in Protected Cultivation

With the ratio of red and blue light emitting diodes(LED) of 2∶3,the paper studied the irradiation effects of the LED lights on the fruit setting rate and yield of different crops in greenhouse during their whole growth period.The results showed that,the LED lights treatment could improve the fruit setting rate of the tested crops in various degree,andsignificantly increase the female flower number on the main stem of melon crops.The fruit weight and yield of melon crops were also increased.The fruit weight and yield of chieh-qua were significantly increased by 5.3% and 15.6%,and the fruit weight and yield of eggplant were also significantly increased by 7.6% and 7.8% respectively in the LED lights treatment,but the LED lights treatment had no significant effects on tomato and pepper.
