Study on the Adsorption of Zn~(2+)Cd~(2+)Ions with Activated Bentonite

Song He fu,Chen An guo,Xia Chang bin(Institute of Environmental Engineering &Chemical Hi Technology,Xiangtan Polytechnic University,Xiangtan,P.R.China 411201).  
The adsorption kinetics of single cadmium and zinc ions on natural bentonite heat treated at 110 ℃or 200 ℃and on activated bentonite acid treated with H2SO4 (concentrations:0.5 and 2.5 mol/L) in aqueous solution at 30 ℃was studied under static conditions. The results show that samples have respectivily a high and medium affinity for cadmium and zinc ions;pH value is main factor to affect adsorption;ion exchange and surface complex being main adsorbing form.The experimental data have been fitted to the Langmiur equation
