Microstructure Analysis of Aluminum Spraying Coating on AZ91D Magnesium Alloy

ZHANG Jin, SUN Zhi\|fu, YE Hong (College of Material Science and Engineering, Chongqing Institute of Technology, Chongqing 400050, China)  
Aluminum was sprayed on the surface of AZ91D magnesium alloy to improve its corrosion resistance. The microstructure and micro\|phase of metallized coating were examined and analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). It was found that a lot of Mg 17 Al 12 phases existed in the diffusion layer and were distributed in a lump and discontinuous. The microhardness of aluminum coating was higher than magnesium alloy substrate. The phase was embossed on the substrate after corrosion and was good to improve anticorrosion property of AZ91D alloy.
