Influence Model of Parameters on Thickness of Coating in Micro-Arc Oxidation Process

Technological parameters of micro - arc oxidation (MAO) affect the thickness of coating, which affects the performances of treated casting directly. Based on the equivalent circuit of MAO process, a theoretical model was established to investigate the influences of process parameters on the thickness of coating. The parameters included electrical voltage, electrical current and the electrolyte. The analysis results of model show that the thickness of coating increases with the increase of electrolytic conductance and processing time. The thickness increment rate of coating in the early stage of processing is greater than the later stage, and is proportional to the voltage increment rate under the condition of gal-vanostat. All the analysis results agree with the experimental results from others.
