Dispersion Stability of Nanoparticles and Its Evaluation Methods

The dispersion stability of nanoparticles and the methods to evaluate the dispersion stability were summarized.The stabilization mechanisms(including electrostatic stabilization,steric stabilization and e1ectrostatic stabilization) of nanoparticles and their influences were highlighted,based on investigation of the dispersion processes of nanoparticles in liquid medium.The four commonly used methods to evaluate the dispersion stability of nanoparticles were compared.It was pointed out that,in order to realize and maintain nano size effect,it is extremely important and imperative to keep good dispersion stability of nanoparticles.Moreover,a prospect was suggested concerning the development of the methods to evaluate the dispersion stability of nanopaticles.
