Determination of Trace Lead In Electroplating Wastewater by Spectropbotometry

The complexing chromogenic reaction of Pb2+ and dithizone in the presence of polyoxycthylene octylphenol ether (OP) emulsifier was studied, aiming at establishing the spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace lead in electroplating wastewater. The results showed that the maximum absorption of the color solution in the buffer system of HAc- NaAc with a pH value of 5.0 was located at 500 run, and the molar absorptivity was 4.8 × 104 L/(mol · cm). At the same time, Beer s law was obeyed as the concentration of Pb2+ was within 0-1.2 mg/L, and the standard recovery rate of Pb2+ amounted to 98.5% - 102. 1 %. Thus it was supposed that the complexing chromogenic reaction of Pb2+ and dithizone in the presence of the emulsifier could be well used for the spectrophotometric determination of trace Pb2+ in electroplating wastewater modified with meerschaum.
