Corrosion Resistance of Micro-Arc Oxidation Coating on MB8 Mg Alloy Prepared from Different Electrolyte Systems

Micro-arc oxidation ceramic coatings were prepared on MB8 magnesium alloy from phosphate and silicate e-lectrolytes.The thickness,micro-morphology,phase composition,and corrosion resistance of the resulting micro-arc oxidation coatings were analyzed by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and electrochemical impeccance spectroscopy(EIS).It was found that the growth rates of the coatings varied in different electrolytes,and the compositions and micro-morphology of the coatings prepared from different electrolyte systems were also different.Moreover,the corrosion resistance of the MB8 magnesium was obviously increased after micro-arc oxidation treatment.
