Preparation of Nano-Zirconia Coating by Plasma Spray Sol and Characterization of Coating Microstructure

YANG Hui, CHEN Li-zhou (The Second Artillery Engineering College,Xi'an 710025, China)
A nanostructured zirconia coating was prepared by plasma spray sol process. The phase composition and microstructure of the coatings and powders dried from the sol were analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Results showed that spontaneously dried sol had amorphous structure, and it was transformed to crystal structure after being heated. The coating preparedby plasma spray had mixed monocline and cubic crystal structure, and it was composed of dense blocks formed by well melted particles and contained micro - cracks as well.
