Mechanism of Mechanical Alloying

Mechanical alloying (MA) is an attractive technique for producing equilibri- um and metastable alloy phases. Both thermodynamics and kinetics in MA are different from the conventional solid-state reaction. The formation mechanism of amorphous phase, intermetallic compound, supersaterated solid solution and nanocrystalline is reviewed.
