Adsorptive Storage of Hydrogen on Carbon Materials——Principles and Prospects of Large-scale Application

A brief review was given to the candidate technologies of large-scale hydrogen storage, It was concluded that the cryo-adsorption of hydrogen in carbon materials is the most feasible method. Explanation on the mechanism of adsorptive storage in carbons, including active carbon and carbon nano-tubes ,was introduced. It was pointed out that two key problems have to be solved before nano-tube or nano-fiber could be regarded as promising H2-carriers. First.thow to increase the volumetric density of hydrogen to satisfy the requirement? Second, how to accelerate the hydrogen intake and release processes to meet the requirement of charging vehicles?
