Techniques for Preparation of Nanometer Silicon Carbide Whiskers

Various techniques and the reaction mechanism for preparation of nanometer silicon carbide whiskers are presented and reviewed-It is pointed out that the production of nanometer silicon carbide whiskers on a large scale can be achieved with binary carbonaceous silica aerogels or char and SiO2 as raw materials in a continuous conventional furnace or a intermittent double-heating furnace.
