New Progress in the Study of Novel Hydrogen Storage Materials

Introducing the concept of "hydrogen economy" has compelled the industrial circle to research and develop novel hydrogen storage materials with discharge capacity of 5~6.5% by weight. In order to achieve this benchmark, the studied materials have been extended from conventional metal hydrides to novel micro-and/or nanostructured materials and complex compounds since 1996. The latest results and progress in this field are outlined in this paper, with the emphasis on the recent development of NaAlH_4 as a hydrogen storage materials.
