The Hydroxyapatite/Starch-based Composites

Starch-based materials are important biodegradable polymers,and hydroxyapatite(HA)is the basic component of human bones.Starch-based materials as matrix and reinforced by HA,the HA/starch-based material composites are a novel composite biomaterial.They have good biocompatibility and a great potential for the applications in the field of bone repair.In this paper,the materials are classified preliminary,and the development on their prepara- in recent years,properties and applications are reviewed.It is pointed out that the researches on the improvement of the preparation and using of nanometer and modified HA reinforcement,are development directions for HA/starch- based composites.
