Synthesis and Physical Properties of Titanium Pillared Montmorillonite Nanocomposite

Using purified Na-montmorillonite in Hubei as the starting clay、and Ti(n-C_H_9O)_4 as titanium re- source,Ti-PILCs are prepared.Composition,structure and properties of the Ti-PILCs are studied by the means of XRD,SEM,TG-DSC,FT-IR etc.The results show that the interlayer free spacing of Ti-PILCs increases from 1.28nm of clay to 3.59nm at most;the thermogravimetric of Ti-PILCs are bigger than the purified clay,and they have good thermal stability below 970℃;the surface area increases from the 31.6m~2/g of the purified clay to 415.1 m~2/g of Ti-PILCs;pore sizes of Ti-PILCs are dominated by mesopore;and Ti-PILCs have the vibration peaks of Ti-O and Ti —O—Si.
