Research on Thermal Conductivity of Metal-oxide Nanofluids

SHOU Qingyun, CHEN Rudong (Institute of Refrigeration and Thennodynamics, Tongji University, Shanghai 200092)  
The transient hot-wire method is used to measure thermal conductivities of four kinds of nanofluids. Thermal conductivities of nanofluids are not only influenced by volume fraction of nanoparticles, but also by other factors such as. properties and suspending stability of nanoparticles and temperature. The experimental results show that nanofluids have substantially higher thermal conductivities than the same liquids without nanoparticles.
