Applications of Grain Boundary Design in Polycrystalline Metals

It is possible to improve the mechanical, chemical and magnetic properties of polycrystalline metals significantly via grain boundary design (GBD).Therefore, GBD is now an important technology in improving performances of metallic materials. In this article, the fundamental theory of GBD and its new applications are summarized and the future research directions of GBD is also outlined.
