Research Progress in Applications of Silicon Materials for Lithium-ion Batteries

As anode materials due to their high capacity,silicon and silicon compounds are one of the research focuses of high capacity anode material in lithium-ion batteries. Research progress in the silicon based anode materials for Li-ion batteries are reviewed. The development,electrochemical properties and mechanisms of lithium storage and several factors effecting lithium storage are discussed and summarized. The existing problems are also analyzed. Especially, different compounds and preparation methods to improve reversible capacity and cycle properties are discussed in detail. Nano-silicon composites as the most promising of silicon anode materials are finally outlined.
