Outstanding Properties and Application Potentials of Graphene

CAO Yuhua CUI Shumao LIU Ke YANG Zhimao (Department of Materials Physics,Xi'an Jiaotong University,Xi'an 710049)
Graphene means one layer of carbon atoms, one of truly two-dimensional crystals. Some very pe- culiar properties of graphene, such as bipolar supercurrent, chiral tunneling of relativistic particles, absence of Ander- son localization, anomalous quantum Hall effect, are summarized in this paper. These properties of graphene open new perspectives for carbon-based electronics which may replace Si-based electronics in CMOS chips. Its other potential ap- plications are also described.
