Development and Application of Concrete Electrical Conductivity

The capacity of electrical conductivity not only affects the durability of reinforced concrete but also can be used as an indirect testing parameter on evaluating some properties of concrete easily. Therefore, much attention has been paid to the electrical conductivity of concrete. The mechanism and influencing factors of the electrical conduction in concrete are reviewed, and some prospective applications of concrete electrical conductivity are introduced in brief. Some potential problems and future directions related to concrete electrical conductivity are suggested. It is concluded that the electrical conduntivity measurement will become an effective method to monitor the durability of concrete under use.
