Research Progres in Preparing Metal Materials by Spark Plasma Sintering

The application of spark plasma sintering(SPS)in preparing metal materials is reviewed,including nano/ultrafine-grained materials,bulk amorphous alloys,quasicrystals,intermetallic compounds,functionally graded materials,cellular materials,hard alloy,etc.The mechanism of metal consolidation and generation of Joule heat,the dispute of plasma activation,the inhomogeneous distribution of current,temperature,displacement and stress,and the pretreatment of powder are expatiated.The defects and future of SPS technology are also discussed.
