Photovoltaic Properties and Photocatalytic Synthesis of Methanol from Reduction of CO_2 by Cu/CeO_2-NiO

Cu/CeO_2-NiO photocatalyst is synthesized by solid-state method and characterized by XRD,IR,H_2- TPR and electrochemistry analysis.Carbon dioxide is photocatalytically reduced to produce methanol in a NaOH aqueous solution under UV irradiation.It is revealed that CH_3OH can be secured at room temperature.After the catalyst is calcined at 500℃,its photoeurrent intensity reaches a maximum.The optimal amount of Cu loading is 0.5wt%and the methanol yield is 156.7μmol/g-Cat.after 8h under UV irradiation.
