Mechanical Properties and Crack-Resistance of Cement Mortar with Basalt/Polypropylene Hybrid Fiber

The effect of basalt fiber and polypropylene fiber and their combinations on the workability,mecha-nical properties and crack resistance were investigated.The results show that adding 0.075%~0.20%(volume) polypropylene or basalt fibers in cement mortar will increase the early and late flexural strengths,and the early compressive strength,while the 28d compressive strength will be decreased to some extent.Basalt fiber has better effect on the mechanical properties of mortar than polypropylene fiber.Basalt/polypropylene hybrid fiber with proper proportion has better effect than any of the single fiber.Basalt/polypropylene hybrid fiber can efficiently improve the toughness and cracking resistance of cement mortar.
