Research Progress of Microalloyed 6××× Series Aluminum Alloys

6×××(Al-Mg-Si) series aluminum alloys exhibit superior comprehensive performance with medium strength,and are used widely in aerospace and civil areas.Microalloying is not only an effective approach of improving the properties of conventional aluminum alloys,but also an important mean for developing new aluminum alloys,and is becoming hot-spot of aluminum alloy research fields.The roles and mechanisms of alloying elements(Mg,Si,Cu,Mn,Sr,Zr,Sc,etc.) are reviewed.The existing problems and development direction of microalloying of 6×××series aluminum alloys are discussed.It is believed that future research concentrations should include the following three aspects : seeking cost-effective microalloying elements,further proving up the mechanisms of microalloying roles,and composite microalloying.
