Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Spray Formed AlZn_(12) Mg_2Cu_2 Alloy

AlZn 12 Mg 2Cu 2 alloy was prepared using the spray forming technique at a lower atomization pressure The microstructures of the deposited material were examined and analyzed by optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy It has been found that high compacted equiaxed material with a grains size from 30 to 60 μm can be achieved MgZn 2 phase precipitated in grains and at grain boundaries After hot extrusion with a extrusion ratio 7 7 and T6 heat treatment, the mechanical properties have been determined The results are σ US =740MPa, σ UTS =753MPa, δ= 8 6 %
