Mechanical Alloying-Advanced Technique for Developing Metallic Materials

Li Zongxia(Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials)  
The technique characteristic is introduced in this paper. Some new alloys and particular properties which are difficult to obtain by a conventional method may be available when mechanical alloying technique is utilized, such as producing ODS alloys and dispersion strengthened composites, exending solid solubility of alloying element in matrix, obtaining amorphous alloys(metallic glass), synthesizing intermetallic materials and obtaining nano-crystalline materials. Mechanical alloying is a new technique deserving to be developed in research on metallic materials.
