Numerical calculation of three-dimensional temperature field during laser transformation hardening of cylindrical bodies

In this paper,a three-dimensional heat transfer model for laser transformation hardening process of cylindrical bodies was set up.Based on this model,the three-dimensional temperature fields of cylindrical bodies during laser transformation hardening process were calculated using finite difference method.The widths and depths of laser transformation hardening zones of steel42CrMo cylindrical bodies were also predicted.The laser transformation hardening experiment of steel42CrMo cylindrical bodies was carried out ,and the widths and depths of the hardening zones were measured.The calculated widths and depths of laser transformation hardening zones are in good agreement with the experimental results.
