Application of numerical simulation in cold isostatic pressing of ceramic powder materials

The FEM numerical simulation to imitate the CIP process of ceramic powder components is intro-duced by the aid of the FEM software MSC.MARC.The formation mechanism of low-density defects in the powder component s is studied.The distributions of strain field and density have been calculated.The defor-mation at top facet of a mandril is restrained with the largest strain and lowest density subsequently.It is shown that the geometry of powder components and the shape of die s cause the formation of low-density area.
