The surface of polypropylene (PP) is inert and so is difficult to make conglutination with reinforcing fibers. In this paper the effect of MAH content, reaction temperature, illumination time and agitating velocity on grafting degree are systematicialy studied in which maleic anhydride (MAH) is grafted on to the surface of PP powder by means of photoinitiated solid phase grafting reaction with the agent of acetone in the high pressure kettle. It is shown that in the processing of MAH grafting reaction the highest value of grafting degree can be obtained when content of MAH is 2.5%, reaction temperature is 30 ℃ and illumination time is 3 min. It was also found that the agitating velocity has obvious effects on the scattering of grafting data.
