A brief manufacturing process and properties of nano -sized A1_2O_3 dispersion strengthened copper alloy

A brief manufacturing process of Cu-Al2O3 alloy was developed and several alloys with different Al2O3 content were successfully fabricated. For Cu -0. 3wt% Al alloy powders, the rate of internal oxidation was rapid at its initial stage and the increase in hardness of powders took place during 1 hour when internal oxidation temperature is between 700 -900℃; Hardness reached the peak value at the different time as the internal oxidation occurred at different temperatures. σb andσ0.2 of the extruded alloy increased gradually and the rate tended to be slow with the increase in the volume percent of Al2O3. After various amount of cold drawing, σb andσ0.2 increased uniformly and the hardening rate decreased with the increase of volume percent of Al2O3, while the elongation decreased accordingly and the electrical conductivity drop slightly. All of the Cu - Al2O3 alloy retain most part of strength ( ≥72% ) after annealed at high temperature.
