Review on In-situ Particle-Reinforced Metal-Matrix Composites(MMCs)

The basic theories and process of some fabrication methods of in situ particle reinforced metal matrix composites(MMCs) are introduced, including in situ formation through soildification, XD TM , VLS, self propagating high temperature synthesis(SHS), contacting reaction, solid liquid reaction, mixed salt reaction and directed metal oxidation. Some in situ MMCs and their mechanical properties are reported. Meanwhile, the next research objective is outlined.
