Corrosion Behavior of NiAl-Based Multiphase Intermetallic Compounds in LiCl-Li_2O Molten Salt

The corrosion behavior of NiAl-28Cr-5.8Mo-0.2Hf alloy and Ni-25Al-15Cr alloy at 750℃ in the molten LiCl-10wt%Li 2O have been studied by immersion process. The results indicate the corrosion products of NiAl-28Cr-5.8Mo-0.2Hf alloy and Ni-25Al-15Cr alloy are LiCrO 2 and LiAlO 2. Because the corrosion of Cr(Mo) phase is preceded over that of NiAl(β) phase in NiAl-28Cr-5.8Mo-0.2Hf alloy, the corrosion resistance of NiAl-28Cr-5.8Mo-0.2Hf alloy is superior to that of Ni-25Al-15Cr alloy. The corrosion scales of two alloys all are non-protective, so corrosion kinetic curves are straight.
