Preparation of Needle-shaped CuO Nanocrystals and its Catalytic Properties

The effect of hydrothermal conditions on the structure and morphology of copper oxide nanocrystals was studied. The catalysis of CuO nanocrystals of different size on NH -4ClO -4(AP) decomposition was investigated by thermal analysis. The results indicated the diameter of the needle-shape CuO could be controlled between 8 and 15 nm simply by varying the concentration of copper acetate. CuO and Cu -2O could be obtained by varying the reaction time or temperature. The catalysis of CuO nanocrystals of different size on AP decomposition was stronger. Of these catalysts,the effect of the catalysis of the 8 nm CuO on AP decomposition was the strongest,and it could make the higher decomposition temperature of AP decrease 93.64℃. The exothermic quantity of decomposition was from 590 ^12J/g up to 1390J/g.
