Research progress in reinforcing materials of historic Stones

The weathering mechanism of historic stones and the role of reinforcing materials were reviewed. The protecting principles, characteristics and applications of inorganic and organic reinforcing materials commonly used in historic stone preservation were analyzed. In this paper, we also introduce several prospective reinforcing materials, such as organic fluorinated polymers, nanometer materials, biomaterials and so on.
