The stability of aqueous attapulgite suspensions with polyelectrolyte dispersants PAANH 4 was studied. The results showed that the optimal dispersant content was 4.5% (mass fraction) for various particles loading. As the mass fraction of particles increased, the viscosity also increased, whereas the effective content of dispersant range became smaller. As pH value increased, the rheological properties of the suspensions with a given amount of PAANH 4 were improved obviously. The rheologic property of the suspension with pH 6.5 was improved considerably if it experienced an adsorption above pH 6.5, and lower viscosity of the suspension was obtained through adsorption stage at pH 8.5.
