Characterization and Tribological Properties of Surface Modifying SiO_2 Nanoparticles

The structure of surface modifying SiO_2 was characterized by way of instruments analysis such as TEM,XRD,FTIR.The dispersivity of the SiO_2 with a size of 10~20nm in various hydrophobic solvents was showed in the paper and the properties of the nanopaticles used as friction-reducing and anti-wear additive in lubricant were evaluated using tribotesters.The results indicate that the additive could form organic/inorganic coextruded thin films on rubbing surface of steel,which contributed to apparent improvement on the tribological properties of lubricant.
