One-step Hydrothermal Synthesis of Titania Nanorod-assembled-microfibers and Its Photocatalytic Activities

A convenient hydrothermal method has been developed to synthesize rutile TiO_2 microfibers by employing TiCl_3 at 150℃.X-ray powder diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) investigations reveal that the microfibers are self-assembled by TiO_2 nanorods and well-dispersed.The average length of the microfibers is 1~2mm and the average diameter is 15μm.The bandgap E_g of microfibers is about 3.0eV by UV-vis adsorption spectrum and the degradation of RhB indicates that its photocatalytic activities are better than P25's.
