Finite Element Analysis on Dynamic Properties of Viscoelastically Damped Structures

In this paper,a finite element analysis(FEA) method, in which the frequency dependence of damping materials was considered, was suggested for investigating the dynamic properties of damped structures containing a viscoelastic layer. The modal parameters of some typical structures, such as cantilever beam, stiffened plate were calculated with the iteration method. The FEA result was almost the same as that of the modal test or the exact analytical solution. The effect of FEA element types on the FEA based calculated results was also investigated.
