Notices for Corporations Dealing with Social Accountability (SA8000) Standard

LI You-huan (North-western University, Department of Economic Management, Shanxi, Xi'an 700069, China)
SA8000 is a social accountability standard system being established to regulate the behavior of transnational buyers. It is borrowed frequently by some advanced countries as a camouflage to compel corporations in developing countries to increase labor cost so that they can limit the competitive advantage of low cost of these corporations. In this way,SA8000 is becoming a tool for advanced countries to limit the economic development of developing countries.China is still a developing country.Corporations from China should be very careful when they are going to apply for a certificate of SA8000.They need pay attentions to the selection of certificate commissions and consulting agencies,to cost countroling and information releasing, and to the protection of technical secrets.
