Preparation of slow-released nitrogen fetilizer with SFP lignosulfonate modified by hydrogen peroxide and urea

SFP(sulfite-formaldehyde AQ pulping) lignosulfonate was modified with hydrogen peroxide and urea to prepare slow-released nitrogen fertilizer.The effect of changes in reaction temperature,reac-tion time,hydrogen peroxide dosage,catalyst dosage and pH value of reaction medium on the amount of the organic-bound nitrogen in the modified lignosulfonate was studied.The results showed that higher nitrogen contents were obtained when oxidation and modification were simultaneously occurred and the nitrogen content was increased by 50% in comparison with that of the product only modified with urea without oxidation.Under those reaction conditions of reaction temperature 75 °C,hydrogen peroxide 15%,initial pH of the reaction medium 4,reaction time 3 h and the dosage of FeSO4·7H2O 0.05%,8.6% of nitrogen(based on lignin) could be fixed in the lignin macromolecule,the ammonium nitrogen in modi-fied products was 1.13% and the organic bound nitrogen reached 87% of total nitrogen which would be released slowly through lignin degradation.
