A serological survey on the prevalence of chicken anaemia virus(CAV)infection was carried out at58farms in12areas of shandong province.A total of368chicken serum samples collected from1998to2001were subjected to an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)to test for anti-CAV.Most of flocks were found to be positive for anti-CAV antibodies(average positive rate was83.2%),and the pos-itive rates of antibody in laying hen, broiler and breeder were91.7%?77.6%and84.78%respectively.These findings indicated that CAV was widespread in chicken populations of shandong province, and the rate of seropositivity of commercial chicken was smaller than that of laying hen and breeder.
