Mechanism of Mechanical Activation Synthesis of Aluminum Nitride

The mechanism of mechanical activation synthesis has been investigated in the carbothermal reduction of alumina. It was found that the experimental results can not be explained by Ren's mechanism for two phase composites. The crystal grains refining to nanometer size and microstrain producing in mechanical activation are the main reason for mechanical activation to promote carbothermal reduction of alumina.
