Effects of Multi-direction Forging on Improving Properties of 7075 Aluminum Alloy

Zhang Xiaoming,Zhang Tingjie,Tian Feng,Li Zhongkui,Ma Guanglai,Zhou Jian(Northwest Institute for Nonferrous Metal Research,Xi ' an 710016,China)  
Effects of multi -direction thermal forging repeatedly on the microstru cture refinement for 7075aluminum a lloy were investigated.Results indicate that the grains of 7075aluminum alloy can be refined less than 2μm,and possess good thermal stabilit y at the same time.In addition,forging elongation can be up to 18%after quenching plus aging without sacrificing its strength.
