Study of Photoelectrocatalytic Degradation of 2,4-Dichlorophenol

The nano-size TiO 2/glass thin film electrode has been prepared by the Sol-gel process.The crystal and size of TiO 2 in film were characterized by XRD.Using the TiO 2 thin film as working electrode and catalyst,the photocatalytic and photoeletrocatalytic degradation of 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP) in water were investigated.The results showed that the photoactivity of TiO 2 thin film eletrode could be improved largely as the external potential is up to 0.7V.The relationship between initial 2,4-DCP concentration(C 0) and reaction rate(r 0) followed Langmuir-Hinshelwood equation,and the photoeletrocatalytic degradation of 2,4-DCP(C 0≤0.5mmol.L -1)Could be expressed by first order kinetics.
