Preliminary Investigation on the Atmospheric Mercury in Chongqing

The atmospheric mercury(Hg) concentration was 9. 2 to 101. 5 ng/m3 in Chongqing,average was 34. 4 ng/m3. Most of the atmospheric Hg, more than 90%,was made up of gaseous Hg compounds,while the remainder was associated with particles. The atmospheric Hg concentration was the highest in factories,was higher in the centre of city and was low on the outskirts of city. The atmospheric Hg was the lowest in the natural reserves.
