Application of NATM Principle to Deformation Monitoring of Shilongshan Tunnel Surrounding Rock

New Austrian Tunneling Method(NATM) has been widely used in dynamic monitoring and controlling of Tunnel construction.Taking Shilongshan Tunnel construction as an example,the processes applying NATM to monitoring the surrounding rock deformation stability,stress variations and shoring control were detailedly presented.Some adjustment based on the analyses of measured data was maken.The results of the application indicates that the method is efficient in controlling the stability of the surrounding rock during the tunnel construction,and it cost effectively with improved construction safety.
