Probabilistic Analysis of Soil Properties and Its Application to Reliability of Slop Stability

Qu Shiqing\ Yang Chengyu (Department of River & Ocean Engineering,Chongqing Jiaotong Institute,400074)
The paper presents probability analysis of earth characteristics in territory of the Three Gorges Project with the help of 295 group data and shows that β distributinon of c and  may be more appreciated than the Normal Distribution. The example indicates that the stable earth slop determined by specified soil properties is an unstable with the aim of reliability theory.Due to the Three Gorges project smooth development, there is a need to collect more soil mechanics data to achieve assessment of soil properties and their distribution so as to assure earth slop stable for resident relocation, building, harbor and highway reconstruction.
