Study on Structural Design of Out-of-plan Beam-wall Joint

With the development of the structure design in the tall buildings, the non-planar reinforced concrete beam-wall joints will be widely used in the frame-shear wall structures. However there is no established method for the detailed design of the non -planar beam -wall joints based on the current code for the design of the concrete structures, the application of such joints may bring the hidden trouble. In this paper, the non-planar beam-wall joints are analyzed using the finite element method. On the basis of the results of the structure analysis, it is proposed that a column with the same thickness as the wall and a beam with the beam length equal to the wall width should be set at the non-planar beam-wall joints.
